Dream bizarreness refers to the odd things that happen in dreams (which almost always happen without us realising how odd they are – unless we’re having a lucid dream). When researchers discuss dream bizarreness, they refer to a number of things: things that are impossible in waking life, like a human being flying without aid; things that are very unlikely but theoretically possible in waking life, like being chased by a tiger in London; hyperassociativity; and vagueness.
